Re: [MBZ] Brake booster woes

I missed this the 1st time around - perhaps its not pertinent - there's an
o-ring where the MC mates to the booster. It does *not* always come w/new
booster. It fits into a groove near the MC flange. its critical to seal
the booster -

I presume theres a grommet too or is it included?
I imagine its a tight fit on the line.

I guess it's normally part of the hose, because there's no way
to stretch it far enough to go either of the fittings. (So it's
put on first.)

I, however, often replace missing such grommets with ones I pull out
of used oil filters. Spray off the oil, slit 'em open, and wrap it
around the line. Turn it so the slit is not in the open on the metal
clamp that holds it. Works well. This, of course, is only suitable
when the line is not significantly damaged due to the missing grommet.
(Otherwise a little Shoe Goo might be appropriate! :-)

Brake booster to vac pump line, you may have to call. Comes with the
screw fittings on each end, only available as the complete part.

Check to make sure the booster itself holds vac before buying a new one.

It looks like the grommet is on the hose. I don't see one being sold
separately.

Yup, Rusty got me a better deal on injector lines than the dealer could
a couple weeks ago.
I hate to call just to banter around questions like this so I pose them
here first.

I need injector line clips too, Fred sent me pictures of his having 5
clips, my car had 1 and it was broken... Guess thats why the line broke.

So $42.50 gets me the hose, I presume theres a grommet too or is it
included? I imagine its a tight fit on the line.

The power brakes on my 190D get a little worse every time its a little
colder. Today they took a good mile or two before they were real
reliable.
I'm going to start troubleshooting and replacing but first;
The vacuum hose to the brake booster is a different kind of hose than
that which goes to the shutoff valve. Its twice the diameter and
plastic. I *think* my other cars have had similar stuff but I'm not
sure. One place where it goes through a bracket has abraded some, I
imagine there should be a gromet there... I plan to replace it. I can't
find anything on Rusty's site other than regular vacuum hose. What
should I get?

Thanks
