Getting there. Mech (= brother-in-law) brought home a new motorcycle (2006 Kawasaki Nomad) Wednesday night and I threatened him with a flogging if he worked on my car during our rare Iowa streak of temps in the 50s. VW is up on jack stands in mech's garage, w/ a half-shaft and a starter removed.
