If you have an Advanced Auto in your area you can just do a Google for promo
codes. I was seriously considering buying a OBDII real time scanning device
that was $160 and with one of their latest promo codes I could have gotten it
for $110.

Just bought eight stock Bosch plugs for my 97 SL500. 30% off promo code
(TRT30) brought the total from $21.52 down to $15.06. That makes it less than
$1.89/plug.

You can't use them in the store - you have to order online. Just do it for
store pickup. If the store doesn't have the part in stock, stop by and ask
them to order it, and tell them you'll order it online for store pickup as soon
as it arrives.

I do this with my store all the time.

The last really good one at AAP was WD5, for $50 off a $125 order.
Expired last night at midnight, so I doubt it works today.
WD6 will likely come online Tuesday or thereabouts, but don't know what discount
it will bring. Sometimes a coupon will give something like $50 off $100 for the
first thousand customers, $40 off $100 for the next couple thousand, and 30% off
for everybody else. I snagged a group 78 battery for my neighbor on the last $50
off $100, he was very happy.

 Thanks...

The last really good one at AAP was WD5, for $50 off a $125 order.
Expired last night at midnight, so I doubt it works today.
WD6 will likely come online Tuesday or thereabouts, but don't know what
discount it will bring. Sometimes a coupon will give something like $50 off
$100 for the first thousand customers, $40 off $100 for the next couple
thousand, and 30% off for everybody else. I snagged a group 78 battery for
my neighbor on the last $50 off $100, he was very happy.

 Mitch.

Cheap pads with long gaurantees wear out the rotors; not the other way
around. Figure in the cost of your labor in cleaning the black gunk off
the wheels fairly often, buying new rotors, installing new rotors, etc.,
and IMHO Akebonos are he cheapest pads you can buy at around $75 per
set. That was my experience.

They have 2 yr warranty chinee rotors for $31/$41 and limited lifetime

Ceramic or semi-metallic pads, not a lot of difference in cost (not $175
like akebonos).

If you have an Advanced Auto in your area you can just do a Google for
promo codes. I was seriously considering buying a OBDII real time scanning

gotten it for $110.

Re: [MBZ] Not 85 politics or Merc -- Auto Parts

2014-02-02 Thread Dan Penoff
Doing the fronts on my 97 SL500 was roughly $241 using MB rotors from the
dealer and a set of Akebonos from our sexy parts supplier.

For safety related stuff like brakes and suspension I can see cutting corners.

It had MB rotors on it with Jurid pads, but I suspect that the PO put a new set
of pads on existing rotors, as the rotors were grooved and had some weird wear
patterns on them. I was tempted to mike them to see if they were below spec.
I suspect they were.
