Re: [MBZ] OT politics: Republicans stealing Hillary signs

2015-08-31 Thread Dan Penoff via Mercedes
I would agree on your observations from a functional standpoint, no politics or
personalities involved.

I would say that in my experience with various factions in our government that
I found the State Department often played loose and fast with little regard for
the "rules", if there were any. It was almost always a "do whatever it takes
and we'll deal with the fallout afterwards" when it was a high visibility or
high value asset we were doing the work for. Fortunately, we were not the ones
who had to deal with fallout, only being the "fixers" in the situation.

That being said, our actions often involved the expenditure of funds that were
not always warranted. That is, we got paid to clean up someone else's mess
rather than them holding the responsible party responsible.

2015-08-31 Thread Rich Thomas via Mercedes
The key issue is that the various organs of Justice are dragging their
feet and stonewalling actually prosecuting these clear violations of the
law, in whatever degree. It is seeming too that these willful
violations could have (quite possibly did) led to the death of the
Ambassador to Libya and other Americans, and who knows what else, if
mishandling or disclosure of classified information regarding their
activities and locations allowed it to be in the possession of the bad
guys. That rises to a whole new level of criminality.

Even if that did not happen, just the dereliction of clear duty with
respect to proper handling of classified information is a total
disqualification for consideration to any political office, much less
the presidency.

Yes.. the wheels are from an 87/88 SEL era Mercedes.

I'm not in love with the polished "bling bling" look, but I did want to
migrate to 15 inch tires. Selection of 14" tires is getting near impossible
to get, but I want to preserve the "Mercedes look" .

I'm actually thinking of bead blasting the polished set and powder coating
them back to "original" .. or selling them, perhaps.. On reflection, I
think I prefer the stock painted look.

Just did a count of Bundt style 14" wheels.. I have 25 of them.. anyone
need some?
Also have a set of 4 Centra 15" wheels, with proper hub caps and bolts.
They have some de- lamination of the crome from the aluminum base of the
rim.. I think they will likely go to scrap.

15" wheels make all the difference in the world as far as ride and handling. My
LWB W123 had 15" wheels, and it drove very differently than a W123 with 14"
wheels.

Too bad you don't have a set of 15" bundts. Those things are darned near
unobtanium these days.

Yes, 15" Bundt wheels would be "restoration correct look" for the Coupe.
However, after 3 months of search.. have not turned up even one, much less
a set of 5 [need a matching spare, you know].

So they are as declared " Unobtanium" .. unless I wish to buy new, at
quoted price of $389.00 each, plus shipping..

So.. for now, I will use the 15" SEL 15 slot wheels, which look "Mercedes
enough" for most. If the restore comes out show quality.. I might spring
for the 15" Bundt wheels... although, personally, I prefer the look of the
15 slot wheels.

My thought also Wilton. I got them as part of a "package buy" and sort of
thought about using them.. but it's to much "bling" for the car.

They ruin the stately elegance of the Coupe for me. So.. I'll sell the
polished set, or bead blast them to take the shine off and powder coat them
to proper finish.
Might put them to use on the 300 SD, come to think of it..

Of all the Mercedes wheels, I find the 15 slot design most pleasing.

The Coupe comes with a full set of Bundt 14" AND late model 5 spoke 16"
wheels as part of the "package"... so I'm presently "up to my armpits in
wheels".

GMann Sez:

Of all the Mercedes wheels, I find the 15 slot design most pleasing.

I like the steel wheels (or better yet, the light alloy wheels like
my 240D came with) and the hubcaps. It can be a pain to find a
replacement hubcap or repaint the centers, but they are very
attractive on 123 and older. Plus they make wonderful ice art when
you drive in frizzle or freezing rain.

I also like the factory alloy wheels, but of them I like the 15 hole the best.

pointed out that when I had a security clearance (only SECRET not SI/TK)
had I done anything remotely close to what she has done -- brought home
classified info, emailed info, left info in an unsecured area, copied it
to unsecured media -- I would be in some federal prison somewhere,
house, cars, bank account, everything would be gone. And yet here we
have a person, who could not have been doing the job correctly without
the transmission of large amounts of classified info, day in day out,
admitting to having broken the law (no matter the parsing of words). It
is just plainly apparent that this stuff is some very serious criminal
behavior. And it is highly likely that all this information has fallen
into the hands of the bad guys, which is treasonous behavior.

I can't stand the woman, but none of that behavior has nothing to do
with any political view. It is just practical application of the law
that applies to anyone with a security clearance and access to
classified info. If some low-level staffer in the comms section had
been doing this, that person would be bunking with "Chelsea" Manning at
Club Fed right now. I can understand the politics involved here, but
that woman should be sitting in a prison cell right now.

Both Bill and Hillary are a text book example of misusing the power of
public office to manipulate, enrich themselves, control, and abuse power
and trust.

Only laying blame on their personal abuse of office, not any political
party affiliation, and only looking at the facts, not speculation, logical
conclusion can be made that ample evidence of a long standing criminal
enterprise has been operated by them working in concert with others.

Politics be damned, holding the vessel of public office does not give free
pass to violate laws.

He does say democrats at the beginning, but at the very end he mentions
republicans. He could solve that problem by having a bunch of signs made
and selling them.
