Are those the SEL-type wheels? I have a set of those too that came with one of the SDs, one pair has a good set of snow tars mounted. Note they require longer bolts than do the bundts. Polished and shiny look kinda pimp if that is the look you are going for. Yes.. the wheels are from an 87/88 SEL era Mercedes. I'm not in love with the polished "bling bling" look, but I did want to migrate to 15 inch tires. Selection of 14" tires is getting near impossible to get, but I want to preserve the "Mercedes look" . I'm actually thinking of bead blasting the polished set and powder coating them back to "original" .. or selling them, perhaps.. On reflection, I think I prefer the stock painted look. Just did a count of Bundt style 14" wheels.. I have 25 of them.. anyone need some? Also have a set of 4 Centra 15" wheels, with proper hub caps and bolts. They have some de- lamination of the crome from the aluminum base of the rim.. I think they will likely go to scrap. 15" wheels make all the difference in the world as far as ride and handling. My LWB W123 had 15" wheels, and it drove very differently than a W123 with 14" wheels. Too bad you don't have a set of 15" bundts. Those things are darned near unobtanium these days. Re: [MBZ] OT politics: Republicans stealing Hillary signs NOW RIMS
Yes, 15" Bundt wheels would be "restoration correct look" for the Coupe. However, after 3 months of search.. have not turned up even one, much less a set of 5 [need a matching spare, you know]. So they are as declared " Unobtanium" .. unless I wish to buy new, at quoted price of $389.00 each, plus shipping.. So.. for now, I will use the 15" SEL 15 slot wheels, which look "Mercedes enough" for most. If the restore comes out show quality.. I might spring for the 15" Bundt wheels... although, personally, I prefer the look of the 15 slot wheels.
