Rather than replace the whole valve I channeled my inner Cathey and epoxied liberally all around the base of the nipple and over the crack. I gave it plenty of time to dry so that no epoxy would get sucked into the system. When I put it back together the shutoff worked perfectly. That was 5 years or so ago and it hasn't broken again. Re: [MBZ] Procrastination
Do you have a Mity-Vac already? The first step (determining if you need the valve or not) is very easy once you've got the vac. Figure that out and give it another year or two to decide your next step. Dont want to hurry these things. -Curt Date: Mon, 24 Jun 2013 16:16:48 -0500 From: Randy Bennell To: Mercedes Discussion List Subject: Re: [MBZ] Procrastination Message-ID: <51c8b740.4080...@bennell.ca> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed I don't know if I need the shutoff valve. I don't know if I need the shutoff valve. Hopefully it is just leaking vacuum lines. Theres oil in the IP where the shutoff valve is so you'll need a seal of some sort to keep that oil from getting out. In fact someone from this forum - I think someone who posted to this thread - pointed that out to me. Unfortunately they've redesigned their site and I can't tell if that's still true.
