Absolutely. The first couple of years after we built our house, we didn’t have
AC. You didn’t need it.
And I’ve been in the front yard in a t-shirt and shorts, cutting grass, only to
have the wind do a 180 and the temperature drop a good 10-15 degrees.

I just looked at my rain gauge and I got about 3.7” or so. Other places did get
a lot more. The biggest problem was the high tide and I guess wind pushing a
surge onshore. In Charleston there was a 9.8ft high tide, 4th highest ever
recorded. There was waist deep water on some streets and other
Floyd, I read that SC got 15" of rain (!). How did this affect your estate?

Yep there was one 4th of July when we were on the Chicago lakefront for the
fireworks. The wind changed and was blowing in from the lake. It was like
someone had opened a refrigerator door. We were not prepared for needing
jackets and blankets in July!

I can assure you, from having lived on the western shore of Lake Michigan, when
it’s this windy it can easily be well below 30F or more. Living on the west
side gives you a great deal of appreciation for the Lake, as it keeps snow off
of you. However, on Mitch’s side of the Lake, that wind
28 would be okay, its when its 32-33 that things get rough. We had that last
February, 2 feet of heavy wet crap.
The power went out at 2pm, internet at 4... Power came back on at 3am, internet
at 4am, I was in class at 6am...
2 feet of powder is no problem, 2 feet of oatmeal is a mess.

Today's Lake Michigan forecast had 50mph winds and 15-20' waves.
Not a good day for pleasure boating, but the Edmund Fitgerald's sisters
Yup, some of them seem to have a regular crowd. You see the same guys pulling
people out again and again.
Its raining like hell here in north central MA. Supposed to get 2 inches of
rain by the time its over. The ground had started to freeze before it started
so our sump pump is cycling more

This is one of the best videos they have.
The Mini/Kia combo is pretty great...

It was definitely rowdier on the Atlantic side of the peninsula, at least from
what I recall of yesterday’s radar.
I had a neighbor who used to be a deckhand and later a tugboat master in Tampa
Bay. He talked about how a loaded freighter or cruise ship could push you

I saw some posts in some fakebook cruise groups I am in a bunch of ships
are sitting outside the port in Ft. Lauderdale IIRC waiting to dock. A
lot of people complaining they could not dock down in the Bahamas due to
high wind and rough seas.

Could very well have been. When it gets windy, they’ll close the port, so they
have to sit out in the Gulf and wait for it to open. The cruise terminal is
right down the street from my office, but I avoid it like the plague, of
course. It’s either going 100 miles an hour because there are ships
I will say lots of cruise ships didn’t get to dock at their ports and seas were
rough, so I read.

They ginned this one up like it was going to be a Big Deal, but other than a
lot of wind from the south, I don’t think it’s been that bad. Having said that,
I did see several trees down and a lot of stuff dropped out of them like you
would see after a hurricane or strong thunderstorm while
