Linkage won't result in too low idle if the idle screw is properly set
(but CAN result in too high idle). OM617.95 engine idle is adjusted with
the idle screw and all other adjustments should allow that.

Wow - that is exactly what the ticket says when the Indie upgraded
mine...but mine is silver! Time for a talk with Emery.

I better polish it good first to make absolutely certain it is silver
and not dirty goldish sorta silvery.

It was all the way in and if a gold bolt is all the way in to run right,
the IP is nearly shot and that is not a good thing.

You should look at the manual for this job and see the proper lengths to
adust the rods to. You adjust them so that the linkage hits the full load
stop with the pedal to the floor.

Do you have the sevice manula on CD?

I do not have the service manual on CD. Are any of those braingears sites up
and working - half the time they don't (work) or aren't (up).

  Thanks!

Kinda strange that on one 300 mile trip, RDB, idle and throttle links (maybe)
all go screwy.

My 1990 300SEL has pretty good paint, but it has some pretty significant
scratches on the hood and roof. They are consistent with a overuse of a
cheap carwashes. My owner's manual has a discussion about paint care in
it and it shows a picture that looks exactly like the haze and scratches
on my car. None of the scratches are through the paint, they are only
surface. I was wondering is anyone has had a car wet sanded to fix this
problem. =20

=20

I tried waxing this SEVERAL times. I used the Meguiars 3 step process
that is supposed to remove most surface scratches, so I need something a
little more drastic. =20

Adjust the idle UP to 750 rpm! Loosen the lock nut and adjust the idle
adjust screw! it's described and pictured in 7.1-100 on page 3
