Thanks Peter --
Wow - a heater - that's really cool.Never realized s heater was there.
I remember seeing how clea the mirror always was in cold weather. I guess
it operates all the time on its own ?

I've read the OM several times and never saw anything about that - oh well,
Thx again for the helpl

The W124 driver's mirrors are all manual only, no power option that I
know of. There is a heater in there, though, so there are a pair of
wires going to it.

Mine do, you just never really notice since the only effect is that
ice and snow don't collect on them.

No, this is just a switch, not a thermistor.

Wire it to a switch, so you can turn it on in the fog and rain.
The mirror heaters I'm familiar with transfer enough energy to
keep the mirror clear even in a misty rain.

Bit I've never driven a 124.

It's contolled by the ACC PBU, IIRC. Supposed to come on when its
below freezing.

drivers rear view mirror so I don't have to mask it. But on the back
of the glass there is a electrical connection. Any idea what the conn
could be for? The adjustment is manual - using a small rod in the
drivers left front. It's not heated that I know of and so far I
cannot understand what it might be for.

Should be heated. The remote-control mirror motors are not in
the glass, anyway!
