I don't recall ever seeing a 280C in silver, nor dash wood in such pristine condition. Mileage is suspect, but I expect bids will vault to $30 K before all is said and done. Re: [MBZ] Serious MB lust
No recourse, sold as-is, where-is. It’s in the terms. They are just the service that brings the parties together, the deal is ultimately between seller and buyer. They have no exposure. That being said, there have been some real sh*tshows where they’ve discreetly gotten involved, but exactly how, I don’t know. The weird dude that bought my 300D on BAT had a buyer ghost him and BAT ended up giving him the contact information for the next highest two bidders. I don’t recall if he was able to sell to one of them or not, but he said it took them a week before they finally capitulated and agreed the buyer wasn’t going to follow through. And why would they care? They get their money the second the hammer falls. -D > On May 18, 2022, at 5:45 PM, Allan Streib via Mercedes > wrote: > > Is it established that BaT sells good cars? I did not suggest that BaT sold good cars or stood behind them in any way. Some are obviously better than others. They are however a source of classic cars that may be difficult to find which makes them a pretty easy way to watch for something that you like or want. Re: [MBZ] Serious MB lust
My advice, for what it is worth, is to forget the car. Enjoy looking at one if you see it on the street or at a car show but don't buy it unless you have the financial resources such that you can toss that much money away. There is no guarantee it will appreciate and you won't be happy if you end up selling it at a loss. You will need a place to keep it whether you drive it or not. It will deteriorate to some extent whether you drive it or not. You have a nostalgic whim to acquire it but it truly does not make a lot of sense.
