If it runs drives ok, and is half as clean as it looks in the tiny
photos, it's probably sold by now. I would have been there with cash
in hand if it was within 300 miles or so... maybe the price is a typo?
The repairs could get spendy, but I've got the tools and a spare
motor!

Bob,

I talked to the guy (Sean) and was quietly trying to decide if I wanted
another project. The car sounds pretty good with typical problems like
cracked
dash, etc. He is 4th owner of a mostly Calif car. Said he had a bunch of
lookers scheduled for Saturday!

I have a really good #14 head I would put on it or sell to whomever buys it.
With 232K, it could need rings and vacuum pump, timing chain, etc etc.

Still a good base to start from though.

Jim informed me:

Still a good base to start from though.

Thanks, Jim.

I was told (and I bet you can all guess by whom)
that I do not need a project.
What I need, it seems, in a 240D with a manny tranny. Good fuel mileage back
and forth to the old nuke plant.

Let boy-child drive the 300D.
I must keep my eyes peeled.

I've owned a lot of Mercedes and my favorite still is the 1972 220D with a
manual transmission. I gave the car to my youngest brother with 318,000
miles on the clock. He drove it to 380,000 miles when some lady backed into
the nose, totalling the car.

I used to drive the car from Huntsville, AL to Nashville, TN and back once a
week. I'd get on the interstate and plant the pedal on the floor till I
reached the other end.

Thanks,

Standard response: If the tranny is good and there is no rust then go for
it.

Looks well cared for with original radio.
