They were sort of like a 240D -- they could go fast, it just took a bit longer than "normal" to get fast. A slight exaggeration - I remember them being as fast as a 1200cc bug. I think the flat rate for a complete engine overhaul, including R&R, was eight hours. ( could be wrong - this was 35 years ago). I was about to say there is no such thing as lame Saab stuff, but then I saw you are driving a 900. Need to move back a couple of decades and get a 2 cycle Saab tank. Four speed on the column, grasping for 35 mph as you shift into 4th. Ah, those were the good old days.
