Quite true. However, SLK320s aren’t that expensive. You can find really nice 
ones in good condition and solid provenance for $5k and below.

Lady week I did a scan on an 05 or 06 SLK for a guy. Seats weren’t working 
which was apparently due to the car having been flooded downtown right before 
he bought it from some girl. (He saw it in the flood so that was a known 
quantity, $2250 which I thought was high, black/black, looked pretty nice, he 
had dried it out so it ran OK). Shonuff the seat control modules and Hall 
sensors on motors were fried. It had about 100 other historic codes which I 
cleared out. 

These things are SMALL, lack appeal to me.

There was a 1998 CL500, black, that was on CL here a couple days ago. Maybe 
120k, looked to be very clean, wanted $5k. It probably sold for close to that 
if it was nice. I was mildly tempted to check it out.

That could be a very good deal at closer to $2k. The issues often seem to be 
with the distributor bits or moisture. Easily fixed. Otherwise the 500s are 
solid so the problems shouldn’t be too difficult to deal with. Then you have 
all the other electrical and top aspects but those go with any of these cars.

AC evaporator issues unless you know they’ve been dealt with.
