yep, they had diesel ford escorts as well. I even saw one, a station wagon version, not too long ago filling up next to me. You can of course transplant the rockers, but once done, the interior will need to be carefully treated with zinc primer and wax interior coating (hard to do without equipment most DIYers don't have) or the repair will seldom last even 3-4 years before rust will reappear. I'd start with NEW materials. I have way more time than money, and I could easily evaluate the other rockers once off. But how _do_ they come off? -- Jim

They were the same engine. These engines will probably run 400-500k miles Mine was factory new after 110k. The car rotted out from under it.
