Re: [MBZ] W124 delivery valve leak
Well thanks for looking. I just ordered a set of the viton o-rings from some fuel injection shop in the UK. I’m thinking about ordering the McMaster Carr ones as well to see if they are indeed the same size since they sell them in bulk. I ordered the special Hazet tool last night! Yes, I definitely should have replaced those when I did the glow plugs. It was strongly suggested that I do, but I didn’t! I just wanted to get the car back on the road at a time! Anyway, it seems like the job can be done with the manifold in place, but obviously with more difficulty. Re: [MBZ] W124 delivery valve leak
Dang, it would appear I did not order those o-rings from McMaster-Carr. I was hoping I did and I still had a big bag of them on the shelf so I could give them to you and get them out of my garage... I remember doing the job on my '84 190D after my mechanic had screwed it up on my '85 190D. It was pretty easy, I went slow and all was well. IIRC Fred has the proper socket for the job. I'm thinking this is the kind of job I'd do in conjunction with glow plugs, you've already had to take the intake manifold off, ought to get a two for one... -Curt On Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at 06:01:01 PM EST, Dimitri Seretakis via Mercedes wrote: The 1990 300D 2.5T has a pretty bad leak at the number 4 delivery valve. I think I bought the last ones I used from McMaster Carr. Remind me tomorrow and I'll see if I can look it up for you. That was for a 601 engine but I bet they're the same.
