Had the same problem in my 02 ML500. Ended up having to send the head unit off for rebuilding. You probably don’t want to drop the coin, but there’s a guy in New Jersey (not Jaime) who rebuilds them for a flat fee for $200. He did mine twice, then when it puked the third time he swapped it out.

BTW, in related news: I took my door apart, remembered my rivitool was in the green W140, which is at the lake. So I drove the ML to fetch the tool and window rivets (sans left rear door speaker) Radio worked on the way there. Did not work on the way home. Put the door back together today,
