Craig and I both lived east of CSpgs - Craig in Peyton, me in Drennan.
At Drennan there were several dairy farms. The one old guy was cool.
One leg stool, milked by hand, wonderful fat settles to top,
$1/gallon, and you are absolutely correct - store milk is like water.
The only other place 40 years ago that I experienced store milk as
water was after returning from visit at my uncle where we drank goat
milk - awesome stuff.

Raw milk is legal in New Hampshire, there are several places we can get it. I
haven't dared to try it yet but we do often get non-homogenized milk from the
same dairy. Its pasteurized but you need to remember to share it before
drinking, or don't to get some cream for cereal.

My buddy Greg does a lot of baking (and now is learning ice cream) and
uses raw milk mostly, I think he said there is a dairy on Wadmalaw that
produces and sells it.  He gets it at the Stono Market on Johns Island.
Not too convenient for you, but probably a lot cheaper.

It is the adulterated fats that kill. Natural fats, as nature
intended are necessary for life, but not available in prepared foods.
Raw, not GMO foods have fats that are unadulterated. almonds,
Macadamia nuts, black walnuts, hickory nuts are all good sources, as
are organically grown animals who are not fed GMO grain. old
varieties of peanuts grown organically should be good also. I'm
guessing Monsanto/dupont etc. manufactures most peanuts grown as a
crop, so they won't be good.

All we need to exist is Omega 6 fatty acids and Omega 3 fatty acids.
The body manufactures every thing else from these two basics.

Local farm has a small grocery store with mostly local products, including
raw milk. Priced at about 2x homogenized milk, they couldn't keep it in
stock, kept increasing the price until they found the market price, which is
like $8 a half gallon.

I grew up on raw milk, straight from the nearest neighbors dairy farm. Store
milk is like water to me, nothing in it.

However, if you should choose to try my diet/lifestyle, it's important to first

His greeting every time you met him was, “”Would you like a rum beverage?”

His neighbors were sailmakers, and they took the scraps of sailcloth and made
beach bags emblazoned with their logo (Schurr Sails) and gave them away to
customers. Barney (my friend) always carried one with him wherever he went,
with a bag of ice, Solo cups, a 2 liter of Coke, and a big bottle of Captain
Morgan’s.

Here’s to you, Barney!

 Oh, come on.
You are the dude with the fancy machine. Make some stuff and let the rest of
us know if it was worth the effort.
Don't forget to add lots of sugar.

And, if I recall correctly, one can buy a blender for camping that has a
gasoline engine with a pull cord.
I should have thought you would have got one of those and then converted it
 to diesel.
Don't recall if it was on here but somewhere I looked at a link lately that
showed a guy with a V8 Buick nailhead engine powering a Margeurita (sp?)
 maker.

Seriously: I blended (smoothie setting) frozen
blueberries/strawberries/raspberries, spinach, basil, almond milk, ice,
carrots, and a little agave syrup. The results were bracing - even tasty.
I also felt energized upon consuming the drink!

Now I am game to do more. Anybody made carrot or beet juice? Peanut
 butter?

Re: [MBZ] Way OT: Blendtec recipes, anyone?

Barney was a great guy. I crewed his trimaran with him a number of times, and
it was always a blast. Never a dull moment, for sure.

I still have my Schurr Sails bag in the closet, which gets used in a similar
manner any time we go to the beach.

Sounds like he was a great guy to have around. My answer to him would have

We went to Angie's 20th high school graduation last Saturday, she was pretty
nervous about it so I packed along my flask in case things were dull. The
party was fine and she had a great time which leaves me with a flash full of

 Well heck, its after 5.

Just bought a Blendtec 2 hp machine at Costco after seeing a demo. Price

Can any of you share any good recipes with this powerful juicer/blender? Or
 with a comparable Vitamix?
If the Blendtec is used properly one can live forever, I am told.

I looked it up on the 'net. Appears to be about the same as my heavy duty
Kitchen Aid blender. The spec list said: lifetime coupling-and-blade; which
may mean that you can't take the blade off and replace it or sharpen it; you
have to replace the whole bottom end just like mine.
However, the blade stays sharp for a long time, and even when it gets dull,
it's still very usable unless you want to totally liquify something.

As for living forever, I've been on a mega nutrients diet for 31 years; 55 to
86; and still have negative lab and xray reports. Annoying aches and pains are
the main drawback to being a healthy geezer IMO, but still better than the
alternative.
