	They are wheels for the spare tire. I'm guessing they used aluminum  
for the weight savings.

Odd you should mention that, the wheels that came with the 240d (yes THAT
240d) I got from Mike looked like steel to me.

Only after I had told the steel recycling guy to go ahead and take two of
the spare ones did my wrench inform me during a tire change that the two
remaining ones were, indeedy, aluminum.

Maybe they used them on 240ds to reduce weight a little? Dunnn

They were considerably more expensive than steel wheels I was told.

I'm being facetious, Marshall.  Reduction in unsprung weight would be a very 
important performance aspect of those wheels.
