Re: [MBZ] shorts
This is exactly what happensed to me. The wire was exposed upstream of the antenna motor, and would occasionally ground out. This was in the trunk along the drivers side. Fortunately turned out to be an easy diagnosis and fix. Wish my current "gremlin" was so easy -- fuse keeps blowing on my brother's SDL, the one for the antenna motor and door locks -- still pull huge current with both unplugged, anyone have any ideas? The dome light system and clock share this fuse. Try one of those! -- Jim

Hi, All. After almost 30 years my memory ain't so hot, though I do remember the horn ring as having a shoulder screw upon which were a wavy washer, a flat washer and a small insulator, like a top hat with no crown (maybe a small spring). A fiddley job as I remember. Sorry not to be more specific. Perhaps the EPC can give you a breakdown of parts and the relative position of the insulators. The 220D was the second MB that I ever owned, the first in America, all I could afford after the first wife's lawyer got through with me.
