You speak of tiles, but I can see only whole GB on the site. Do you have some smaller piece extracted? If so, please, send it to me and I'll take a look. I'll try to download the large file as well, and test it. I'm not sure about GML, as I think they are handled by gdal, and gdal support isn't what it should be. Though I have previously tested shapefiles, and they worked relatively well (I had some trouble with certain projections).
