That's "As designed". No user/password is necessary to download data. Only
when uploading are they manda
The timeouts and other network problems were probably due to the OSM server
self.

- completely uninstalled Merkaartor (invoking uninstall)
- removed HKCU\Software\BartVanhauwaert from registry to make sure

Thanks for letting me know.
Unfortunately, without stacktraces, I cannot do much.

I'll make a debug version of 0.13 available on Windows, so that users
suffering crashes can send me some debugging information.

I'll also have a look at your other suggestions for 0.14.
