Does anyone see any problem with this scheme? (... other than that some
individuals' curiosities would go unsatisfied?)
Yes, this is an open public project done in the spirit of discovery.

Only factoring work? I found over 95% of those on a single P133..

How do we confirm the original tester has now *lost* this credit?

Hi,
I was running a double check (assigned by Entropia) and found a factor,
this is the second time that this has happened. I was just wondering about
a few things
1. How often does this happen?
2. Does the original tester still "lose" the LL-credit they originally
received. If they do then t
This is a call to those people that I was mailing the results of trial
factoring to, for numbers in the 60-69m range. To cut a long story short I
have 'lost' your email addresses. If anyone else still wants this data,
then please mail me off the list and I'll add you to the distribution list.
Hi All,
I am getting very frustrated by the following and am searching for clues
PC1 (P133/128mb/Win2000) is running the PrimeNet Proxy software plus V20 in
double checking mode
This machine is also the *Internet* proxy for my home lan. The Internet
connection is a dial on demand 56k mode
Hi All,
Well it finally happened to me, I was double checking an exponent in
the 5M range, using the beta of V20 and it found a factor! I often wondered
about how often that happened, anyone have any other hard data?

I am running the new V19 software as part of the QA program and I am
tempted to devote one of my V18 machines to testing some of the very large
exponents (60m+).
What I would like to know is where can I get a list of the big exponents
and how far they have been trial factored if at all.

Perhaps George and/or Scott could update us on this?

So a test will take my PII-300 about 3 years, so what, if I've got the
patienceI can always switch the intermediate results over to faster
processors as I get them.

The GIMPS home page explains the following

Lucas-Lehmer result is found to be incorrect, then you will "lose credit"
for the time spent running the test."

Yes I do remember it, now 5.2M is not *so* far away from the new number,
well alright it is xx% away. Why don't we hand out a few assignments in the
17-19m range. I have already done a 20m one which took 10 months ;-)

Gordon Spence,
I am taking delivery of a Sun Ultra-10 Sparcstation on thursday

position to compile my own. Can anybody point me to a precompiled

As long as we do the rigorous double and triple checking then why should we
be worried?
