I've been getting a lot of questions about What are 'active' plugins?
I'd like to make v2.6 final soon, but I must admit I still have
misgivings about adding the active plugin mode.
Folks understand what it is to open a stack, and what it is to library a
stack. But they don't seem to grok active,

I've never needed it. Just removing a library stack when I'm done with
it seems to do the trick.

I must admit, I really don't understand the need for a 3rd 'active' mode either. As
one who has already built quite a few plugins, I neve never seen a reason for an
'active mode as you describe. One of the best features of Metacard is it's simplicity.
My vote is to keep it that way.

Speaking of which, I just spent a frustrating session trying to debug
why the MC IDE went nuts during the initialization of the plug-in menu
item. Turns out if you put an OS X alias to a file into the plug-ins
folder,
