Postscript: One problem of my proposed script is that restoring the original opaque colors of the image is only possible if the alphadata values are above 0. If the transparency was set to 0, resetting the values to 255 will result in dark or black color values for all alphadata chars with 0.

When I use Command-control-shift-4 and drag, Mac OSX copies part of the screen to the clipboard. When I put that into a MC image, the white part of the image is transparent. Both for appearance's sake, and because I want the image to receive mouseDown messages even when a white area is clicked,
