Hi List,
Dennis has added some great unclassified franconia area meteorites. My dad
and I saw Dennis find a few of these while we were up there searching, so I
know they're not planted.

I was 11 and absolutely glued to the TV. My mom let me stay up to
watch it and stay home from school the next day. I remember it like it
was yesterday, I was blown away by it because rockets and spaceflight
was (and still is) facinating. The whole thing STILL blows my mind to
this day. Oh how I
Dear List:
It was like it happened yesterday. I was 10. We
drove to Grandpa`s house because we didn`t have a TV.
All family members stood or sat as the action unfolded
on Grandpa`s 10 inch B/W TV. Wow. We were first; I
remember the pride of the average American and the awe

when I noticed that they want your pin number to your account.I also

I was 14 at the time.We were fortunate to see it transpire on a color TV
with alot of friends. Also I recorded the whole event on 4 cassettes. On my
brand new cassette recorder. And 35 years later, I still have all 4
casettes virtually untouched with time.Sounding as new as when I first

Some 35 years ago, I was with my family at my
grandmother's house in Falmouth (Cape Cod), MA. There,
I watched the first step on the Moon with my whole
family,
two parents and five kids, and my Mom's mother

around the television. It was a bit surreal watching

Hello list,
Not sure how far I will get into this series...as it is quite long, but I
will post at least some selected letters of Harvey Nininger and the
Smithsonian. In this series, Nininger corresponds with E. Henderson,
assistant curator at the museum is pretty much head of the meteorites,
Hmm 35 years ago.. I wasn't' born for another 5 years :( Drat, I

Maybe next time :)

Hello,
I was just 20 years old then. I can't remember a lot of details, e.g. if
the TV was b/w or color, but I can still remember that
... after watching these first steps, I was looking at our moon in a
very different way!
... 3 weeks later I started with my job as a school teacher (guess what
Hello Paul and List,
Great questions, Paul. I'm enjoying reading the
responses.
I was at home with my Mom and Dad as I was 14 years
old. The three of us watched the event unfold on our
little ~14 inch (?) B W TV together.
I think the Apollo program was truly our nation at
its finest.
Hi,
Having just read Adam Hupe's firm action for meteorite fraudsters, I was
wondering why no one has commented on it, and does he have some information
he should be sharing with us? I have never heard either of the Magnificent
Hupes speak in such strong rhetoric!!
Curiously...

Dear Dave and List,
The reason I am so upset about fraud is that it directly affects the value
of our collection and takes some of the fun away from the avocation. I will
give you a few examples:
I recently traded with a well known and somewhat respected dealer. After
analyzing the material he
Dear Adam and List: I encourage you to at a minimum to name names, and better yet
file lawsuits if you truly have cases of fraud. This will help clean up the business
and create a climate of less fraud within the business. Also, by duing so you will
eliminate some of the scum that operates
Dear List,
While we are on the topic of fraud? When will the Labennes ever release their
mystery coordinates of the Sahara meteorites?
Any comments out there? One of the reasons I bought their materials was because I
believed that they were telling the truth that they would in a
Dear Adam, Dave, and List;
As you all notice, the small potatoes feller that I are :-\ , I try to
not really get too active in actually buying and selling meteorites
these days. It is much easier to sell odd stuff like magnetite,
anorthosite, things that are visually, or mineralogically
Hello Adam and List,
Although my last post met with a few less than positive responses, I feel I
would like to comment.
Now having only been collecting meteorites since Feb of 2004, I'd say I am
still really new at this hobby. I am a born packrat and I have collected

Folks
What is a good way to store/display meteorites in micromounts?
I am interested in having the ability to display some, and the ability
to store others while not having them scratech and being easy to read
the lables to find ones I might be interested in.
A related question, what is a good
Where was I?
I was on Marcus Island (now Manami Tori Shima), some 603 miles east of
Iwo Jima (the closest island) working on the USCG Loran C navigation
system. Three quarters of a square mile of bare coral sand, no trees,
no booze, no women. One year tour. Three of the thirty coasties had

I think that Adam may be talking of something a bit more serious than
just naming names. When does someone stop naming names? That just leads
to more wars on the list, and the efforts to fix the core of the problem
is detracted from. I think that if the effort goes into creating teeth

What do people think of the photo at the link below? What is the

The holes and the sort of light gray coloring in patches reminds me of
clinker, melted stuff from around furnaces. Those are not just
indentations, they are holes and round ones like gas has pushed through.
Just doesn't seem that solid.
Who is the guy in the background?
Dear Michael;
No, not even close. I find this along the many miles of the main line
of the Union Pacific Railroad. As a child, we found it in Michigan
along the tracks of the Ann Arbor and Soo Line Railroads. It is the
bottom scum off of large smelters and makes perfect cross tie
My vote is for smelter slag. It can rarely have some value to it.
