Dave, it is clearly a scam, I amazing that the item went from he paid too
much to let it go so cheap yesterday to a state of disrepair today. If it
was damaged, he would gladly sell it to recover some money.
I would take him to town with ebay.

I was able to get some more of those AML labeled meteorites.
I also have included several specimens that have suffered a cruel fate; the
American Meteorite Laboratory portion of the label has been cut off. What a
bummer but at least they still have the numbers painted on that match with

Today, I met the seller of the auction that has been in question, by me and
several others today. Was able to examine it, take photographs, but I was
not able to declare it a meteorite, or a meteor-wrong. Me
You are correct, Rob, for the reasons you listed.
One sale doesn't a trend make.
Besides, if one compares the closing prices of ebay auctions with the
sellers stated estimates of their worth, it appears that the trend is
negative.
