_Dear Listees,
Here are some news, basically for those of you who worried by my recent
silence to answer specific inquiries,
I know that the issue of wherther the Black Stone is a meteorite or not has
never been satisfyingly decided, but I thought this is an interesting
illustration from around 1315 showing it.

For all of you serious thin section collectors,
For sale: one large, double polished rectangular thin section of LA 001. I bought a 2.6 gram slice of LA 001 at the Pitt auction in Tucson several years ago and finally got a thin section back. The maker did a wonderful job on this 14 x 24 mm

Hi Mark,
The photos of this meteorwrong or meteorite look
pretty darn good to me, but I am less experienced than
you and most of the collectors and dealers on the
list. Would you share the clues that you used to raise
doubt? The text of the auction are certainly fishy,
but to the photos

Hi Mike F.,
Thanks for the research. I would propose that only non Antarctic
meteorites count as supply, since Antarctic meteorites are not
available.
I agree (which is the main reason I listed a separate column for them).
In that case, the number per the Met Bul may have peaked 3 years
Hi all,
Just thought some of you might like to see some cool
in-situ pictures of a few Franconia meteorites. These
pictures are a couple of years old I guess, but still
bring back some nice memories! Its not very often one

Hello Pat,
I am limited on what I can say on a public list, and you made this go to two
that are archived on yahoo. This is because I do not want to break any ebay
rules. I feel it is a meteor wrong. I have seem a lot of meteor wrongs on
ebay and there will be more. I am not risking

I'd say have him complete the sale.
If we all had the choice to opt out after every sale then we'd only sell
half our stuff.
We win some and we lose some on ebay, I've lost money myself but that's
the way the auction goes, don't feel bad about demanding it because if it

Mark and all,
Just looking at that photo, I would say that that is obviously a meteorite. In
fact it looks similar to Sikhote-Alin. The grey scratch test would indicate
magnetite, but fusion crust is magnetite. You have to get a piece of metal.
Cut and polish the face of the fragment, etch
As an auctioneer I have several comments:
1) You ABSOLUTELY have a right to this piece at the ending bid price.
Period.
2) This character could have, as already mentioned, had a higher minimum
bid OR a reserve. The fact that he did not indicates in the former that he
wanted to stimulate bidding

Hi
Incredible specimen.
But I have questions.
You, as a person who know how meteorites looks like, can u describe what
kind of material it is? I think that its easy to recognize iron meteorite
from magnetite or other material. Specimen for me looks like iron meteorite.
If this is not iron and its

Hello Steve,
The seller is not interested in ending the auction and I could do a nickel
