Case in point: I was the first person to decide to search Dry Lakes for

Hi, Mike,
I guess you didn't read any of the early posts in this thread - it CAN be
solved!
Gary has some samples for the lab, and there will soon be a legitimate,
definitive end to it.
No one thinks it's from Mars, or Voltar, but it seems to me that if you have

The man isn't interested in selling it. It's his ploy. A way to attract
attention. No amount of effort matters to him. He won't sell his lucky charm
now or in the future. Expect to see his ad for years to come unless ebay stops
him.

While curious about the composition of this rock only from a geology
perspective, I too would rather read a lengthy discussion about something
more relative to the list.

Two things I don't believe in: coincidences and

OK, I could be wrong about the coincidence, but I'm

Hi, Gary and all,
Once the rock has been positively identified as terrestrial by the lab, I
wonder if it technically could still be advertised as a possible meteorite
on eBay thereafter, simply by the support of the vision.
Otherwise, everyone with a piece of furnace slag can represent it as
I agree with you Pete. If it is incontrovertibly identified as terrestrial

no longer claim it is what his vision showed him as it would then be fraud.

If it is a religious justification, science just plain doesn't count. The
vision allegedly happened and thus the scientific method is not applicable to a
believer. Anyone buying a religious vision simply will have to do it on faith
and not look for a relationship of convenience with science,

I wouldn't cross the street to give the guy the time of
