The glass and the lighter were put into a bag that contained the meteorite,

which you will never see a refund on. A couple of

I have been ripped off tens of thousands of dollars by bait-and-switches pulled
by Moroccans in the past along with several other dealers. You will have to go
back further in the archives to get their names. The weights were always light

Its not just Moroccans.

Dear List Members,
Last week I announced my newly available Zaklodzie-Like meteorite, NWA 4301.
I put four smaller pieces on eBay last Wednesday starting under a dollar and
these will end tomorrow (Wednesday, May 20th), along with 36 other
incredible deals, many still at just 99 cents. These
This hobby is all about the money and nothing else for many people.
Would be a pity, if so.
But I don't think so.
Why?
Cause if it would be about the money only, that occupation would be simply
to boring for most, who collect or handle meteorites.

Hello Adam,
Don't you think you should tell IMCA who it was the rip you off, so someone
else don't make the same mistake?
I thought thats what IMCA was about, protecting the collector.
Tell us who the Moroccan fraudsters are.

I already reported to the IMCA. Ask the board. I am not getting into detail
here on the List because it becomes a permanent part of somebodies record which
can be referenced through any good search engine.

I have no idea, but you have my curiosity going as well.
It looks like a meteorite on the outside.

Sorry for the question...
Looks like a fine grained basalt covered with desert varnish.
I see no fusion crust (flow lines etc.) and no regamaglypts. In the
cut surface, no metal, no chondrules, and no heat affected zone.

Are those metal flecks on the sawn face? Does it hold a magnet?

Yup... sure does. It's got me looking twice at it.
I thought it was a meteorite at first, but it's non-magnetic and no
visible iron. Then when I lifted it from the box it's lighter than
normal. There's some tiny flecks of something that might be metal but
super small and only shows up under

Quite possibly could be a basalt of some sort.
It's lighter than you would expect for a rock of this size though. I go
through hundreds of meteorites per week, and this one just jumped out at
me. This is why I ask... When I don't know the best thing is to ask
someone who does. ;)

my second guess is a fine grained granite from earth. I've seen granite
just like this as xenoliths embedded in coarser grained granite behind the

It looks lighter than the basalts I'm used to. I'd have to say andesite
(definitely not granite). It also looks terrestrial to me. Any meteoriticists
out there? What is the procedure of having it tested? Specifically, what
steps would you take to test it (not where do I sent a suspected
