Hi Jim,
I think Sergei was trying to make a point. :-) There are too many people
on this list who do stray from the topic of meteorites. NASA going after an
ex-astronaut to get an old camera back has NOTHING to do with meteorites.
Regards,
Bob

Come on now---from what I see, posts are almost always indeed on topic, but
if something interesting in the conversation leaks in, people can always
still press DELETE.

Hello Bob and list,
I understand. However, every email list I've owned, moderated or have
been a member of for the last 27 years strays off tangent. It's a
human thing and it's healthy. And, I am one to believe freedom is a
terrible thing to loose. I am not in favor of throttled or group
Hi Sergei;
One of the drawbacks of an non-moderated mailing list is that off
topic threads can be started and continued (until the admin
intervenes). Personally though I think that some of these off topic
posts can provide an interesting slant to the list. Also many feel
that there is some level
There's off topic and there's off topic, Nasa sueing previous employees for
stuff they have been given, COULD turn out to be relevant to meteorites, an
awful lot of US institutions have traded state owned/Nasa materiel over the
years for example..
Now and again doesn't hurt, and I prefer it
When I first started reading the messages on this list a decade ago, I
felt similarly to Sergei. But since then, I've learned to be more open
to others' interests and have learned a lot in the process, as Mark
points out. I used to hate the for-sale messages and for some reason I
thought they
Dear Dealers and Collectors,
On this special anniversary of the fall of the Johnstown diogenite,
I would appreciate receiving sales offers of material from these falls,
or even if you could kindly tell me who, besides museum collections,
has any of them:

Hi Doug and List,
Talk about timing... I recently acquired a gorgeous 36.7g part slice of
Johnstown that I was going to load on eBay tonight... maybe I don't need to
now if I get a decent offer. It is from a private collection in Europe. Here
is the information and three links to images:

Hey Count.
Who owns the operation now that they are mining again? I'd suspect a Chinese
parent company.

Here's the best way I've found to navigate the list.
1. Use an email address exclusively for the list. That way non-list email
doesn't get lost in the shuffle.
2. Always view the list from the monthly archives page,
