Adam is right about National Forest rules not permitting meteorite collecting. And, I'm not surprised that many of their forest service rangers are unaware of that fact and, more importantly, among the rangers that I have spoken with, most don't really know why it isn't permitted. It's

Hopefully, it did not fall in the Tonto National Forest or the Apache Reservation. Both are completely off-limits. It is doubtful the proud Apache Nation will allow hunters on their sovereign land since they have huge respect for Mother Earth. National forests on the other hand, are
