I'm just curious where this endless supply of extreme rarities flows from? I've
had massive collections and in nearly 17 years only seen about 100 grams of
Weston in mine, Not to mention many others.
Something like Weston does not need a gimmick or embellishment to sell itself.

another question, how did you get Benares? Not a gram in India and about 100 or
so grams known, Karl has two complete stones from old collections, rest in
London. Rarest of the rare. What provenance do you have to offer Benares on

When I have any doubt about a sample I ask about its provenance. If they are
are unwilling to give me the info I requested I don't do business with them.
Better safe than sorry.

I have samples of both the Benares and the Weston in the collections here. The
Benares comes in at 1.27kg and the Weston at 390g. The Weston sample is one of
the biggest outside the US I believe. Sorry no trades.

On the contrary - both of the links that you posted are to auctions of
botryoidal hematite specimens, and the seller has an additional
auction with a collection of small hematite pieces.
You can tell by looking for the round, bubbly shaped protuberances
visible on the specimen
Linton, I share your skepticism. A few dozen pieces and over 70 grams each? I
don't think there is that much in private collections.

I recieved several e-mails when I posted the Weston
newspaper article I recently got, many people requesting copies for their
collection.
I was unsure how they would come out since the
articlewas on the second page, towards the middle, beside the 3rd page and

Here is a transcript a newspaper I recently aquired, note many of the s's are
typed as f's. I have not altered or changed the spelling. Newspaper has two
names as I noted (I'm not confused...:-).

Hi,
The "f" for "s" comes from the fact that at the beginnings
of printing in English (Caxton in 1458), the subsidiary or inferior "s"
was written as a tall stretched vertical form like a thin integral sign
(with no crossbar at all) and our present-day full circumflex "S" was used
only for the
hat if you go back far enough, and read some of the original documents, it
doesn't even resemble the English language we use today.
