This list is now about the tamest list iv'e ever seen, In many
internet lists/newsgroups death threats and swearing are the norm!
Whilst I don't enjoy all the personal attacks etc, they have toned down
Hello,
that´s a good idea.
I have my own webservers and if someone takes care about reading it, I would
give the space for it.

Maybe we could make a second list for personal
I volunteer to run and host forums for that. If the community decides which
different forums are needed, I can easily set them up, even closed forums
for certain groups (IMCA) only.
The software is up and running at http://www.worldofmeteorites.com.

Hello,
In fact, I don't think we should delete messages like
personal attacks, Proud Tom, out of meteorites topics
because it's the freedom of speech. We should place
all of these in a out of subject topic that everyone
can read if he wants.

Dear List:
I consider myself a newbie in the meteorite world as a collector and as
a list member. I have never said an unkind word to anyone on or off list,
and I use the delete key with obscene regularity.
I don't really have a problem with all the negativity; it hasn't quelled

My experience with the *real* big ones in whatever (acting, creativity,
music) due to my RL job is that their fights and flaming occur just on a
higher level, not visible for the public. All in all, they are the same
bitching egos like evrybody else :-)
You are probably right, Bernhard, but
Jim Strope couldn't have said it any better. I spend a great deal of time
and effort on post daily pictures. More than some may think and all I see in
between is total BS, emails that should be sent in private off the list.
It's really not worth my time and effort to try to do something
Thats just what we need. A list that nurtures newbies in order to promote the
market. A place that they can be indoctrinated without diverse opinion. What a
steaming pile that would be. Moderated to the point of absolute boredom. Take
note of those that are jumping on this bandwagon!

I have wondered about that and I simply concluded that it's good common sense
to stay out of the frey to protect your investments.

Hi Jim and all,
I certainly agree with what you have to say and wish that the rules
would be honored for the most part (I doubt there will ever be a perfect
forum). In reality when list members have approached Art on this, it
seems to fall on deaf ears. Art could certainly appoint someone to
