Absolutely thrilling pieces, congratulations, Robert, and thanks for
sharing!
I don't keep a record of the masses, but doesn't it meanwhile seem that the
tkw of estimated 10-12 kg could be a bit too low?
Best regards,
Matthias

Hi All,
I decided to spend the day exploring a new location for meteorites.
With the day time high expected to reach 50 degrees what more could you
ask for? Brix and I spent the day exploring a bluff that overlooked a
large valley.
As I was walking along I noticed a white PVC mining claim
That is truly one of the most amazing things I have heard.
I see those all the time hunting meteorites and never thought
much of them except that I noticed they disintegrate fast in the sun.
Obviously not fast enough for these birds. Thank you very much for
posting this and I too will leave none
Sonny, Paul and List,
Thank you Sonny and all. These pipes still pose a risk to birds even left on
their sides. During the summer months during the heat of the day the birds
enter into the shade inside them and never exit as the temps inside the pipes
well exceed 120 degrees. Best to lug the
Hi List and nature lovers in general,
Mining provides Nevada with the second largest contribution to our State's
economy in terms of jobs and money. The finding of ore bodies and the staking
and recording of those claims is a necessity. The use of white Schedule 40 PVC
pipes evolved from first
Carl Listers,
Carl thank you for providing the clip. I am excited to see that some science
channels are talking about the Tissint fall. By chance have you found any new
insights in the meteorite that haven't been seen in other Mars meteorite falls?

I've always capped the claim posts I've put in the ground. I found it
a convenient place to attach the maker, or engrave info on the post. It never
occurred to me that it would prevent anything from being trapped inside.
Hopefully people in other states where pvc posts are still legal will
Paul and others, be careful where you pull them up. It's legal to do so in
Nevada, but in other states it may not be.
Happy hunting,

Hi Count,
They made it illegal to put up uncapped markers, but because nobody did
anything with the old, markers that define mostly defunct claims (which should
have been an obvious outcome), they made all PVC markers illegal.
I think they should still allow pipe to be used (PVC or otherwise),
Hi Mark, everyone,
It's too bad society needs rules but with so many humans overrrunning
the wilderness, the best way to deal with it is work on a responsible
collecting/mining/4-wheeling/detecting/etc. personal policy and
showcase it for all to see - just like Sonny - then regulations are
