Hi folks,
On another forum someone posted about a recent TV programme he'd watched
about NEOs. At the end the guest astronomer said something to the
effect that the first we know about an incoming impactor could be the
high-pitched scream as it speeds through the atmosphere.
It got me
Hi,
I have a couple of pieces of the Nevada R chondrite I found for sale.
This is the first and only R chondrite found to date in the USA. Only a
few pieces will be available. TKW is only 70 grams. Classification was

Hi all,
I've seen on some websites that dealers are selling unclassified NWAs.
Maybe it's because I'm such a newbie, but I don't understand why anyone
would want to buy them, especially if they look like just a typical ordinary
chondrite or iron? It's just a space rock that was found somewhere

For some of us, the space rock part is the important one, not what random spot
on the Earth it just happened to land. There is no just about it.
Hi Bob
Because of the circumstance you allready mentioned:
It's (just) a space rock

Hi all,
I am looking for a source for very inexpensive irons. They should be small
(around 10-15g) and $0.20 to $0.30 each. Can these be found at this price?
At the lower end, I could buy a couple hundred of them. The cheaper they
are, the more I can buy. :-) I am wanting them to give away

Hi, Mark,
That high-pitched scream you hear
as the one kilometer impactor drops on the
planet is not coming from the impactor --
it's coming from us!
My research indicates about half the
human population emits a high-pitched
scream while the other half creates a strong

Bob and the list,
The need for NWA's is because the North West Africa as well as other
areas provide a lot of the meteorites that we can then analize, giving rise to
the various classifications.
Not only that, but small NWA's make good giveaways for school children
and adults.

Hi Mark,
It would seem that it is possible but not in the ordinary sense. This could
only happen when Electrophonic Sound was produced from the incoming object.
It only occurs with large meteors but I'm thinking your scenario would be
BIG enough! ;-)
