Re: [meteorite-list] AD Mali IMB/ Mike Bandli
Hi Andi, list, - these are great pieces indeed, compliments. As a proud owner of an Erg Chergach (prov.) 13.3 gm full slice I can confirm that this IM material is both utmost interesting and extremely esthetical. Question to the connaiseurs of this fall (find): is it possible to estimate how many percent of the total mass are IMB? Hi all - In some Native American systems, the thunder from lightening is not distinguished from the thunder of bollide fragmentation. Thus the thunders fight the serpents. Re: [meteorite-list] Unclassified NWAs: What's the attraction?
Hi all, Thanks for the heart-felt replies to my query. I knew my question would evoke the true feelings of collectors out there. :-) Even though I need some classification in my life (and in my collections), I do see all of your points. And no, I don't do Beanie Babies and Pokemon. :-) I have a mineral collection and now a meteorite collection (and used to have a coin collection when I was a kid), so I do like specific items. My girlfriend and I will be digging for topaz or aquamarine crystals in Colorado and I'm just looking for good crystalline specimens, while my girlfriend will pick up a chunk of granite and think it's cool (although she also likes the crystalline specimens). Everyone is different and that's what makes us individuals (like meteorites). Thanks again for sharing your opinions and thoughts about unclassified NWAs. I really do appreciate it. [meteorite-list] Cleaning Campo del Cielos
Greetings, List, Some advice, please! I have several Campo specimens, and all but two are very stable, even with lots of handling. Actually, the unstable ones are handled the least, due to their size. Not severe, but a coating of rust, and some flecks coming off when handled. The two oxidizing happen to be uncut. All are stored in the same place. Can I use a wire brush to clean them? If so, what is the choice metal brush the pros use? Is a standard auto-body brush harmless? I found out the hard way that using a brush of brass-wire (on wrought iron) leaves a golden hue behind. Cheers, Pete _ Introducing the City @ Live! Dear Pete Pete, Perhaps a few suggestions are in order here to be sure you are eternally happy with you big Campo. They have water in them and until that moisture is removed you will have corrosion, flaking exterior crust, internal rust blooming to the surface. Read the November issue of Meteorite.
