[meteorite-list] New year, new site...

2011-01-01 Thread Mark's Meteorites
Hey folks,

I been consolidating my sites and pages onto a new blog. meteorites.cc (which
still works) now redirects to:

http://velikimacak.com/?page_id=368

Some explainers, lots of pictures of meteorites. Photos from the NHM London
collection, and a summary of how to mess around with cross-polarised light.
Also some general astronomy photos and beginners FAQ.

Have fun, and best wishes to everyone for the New Year.

[meteorite-list] AD: ENSISHEIM, Tabor, L'Aigle, Barbotan, Abee, Siena, SYLACAUGA, Orgueil, St. Louis, Fisher, Tagish Lake, New Concord, Lost City, Claxton much more ending on eBay! Happy Holidays

2011-01-01 Thread Shawn Alan
Hello Listers,

I have some great historic meteorites ending soon on eBay. If you have been
looking for those high end meteorites, look no further. I have meteorites from
the 1400's all the way up to 2008, all with great historic pasts and scientific
importance. If your looking for the first dated fall from 1492, or the greatest
Hoax meteorite, which is also one of the rarest meteorites. But that's not all,
I have many world class meteorites to offer with world class stories, from Mrs
Hodges Sylacauga, L' Aigle, St. Louis, to Almahat Sitta aka 2008 TC3. A
meteorite is a meteorite, but a meteorite with a history and legacy, will
always add aura to your meteorite collection and value. Please take a look and
if you have any questions please contact me and ill get back to you.

Re: [meteorite-list] Meteorite search in the Saquia al Hamra

2011-01-01 Thread Matthias Bärmann

Hello Svend, Guido, Tracy, Carl e.a.,

with pleasure I affiliate myself to the line of congratulants. I've read the
text in German before, without break, and I admire the manifold and precise
access the author found to this breathtaking and very special region,
including geology, geomorphology, climatology, biology, history, culture
etc., not to forget to mention his talent for characterizing people,
situations (sometimes comical, sometimes not) and utmost interesting pieces
of wood he met on his way. Well, there was somewhat else ... yes, of course,
meteorites not at last. Congratulations on those wonderful finds, Svend. I
especially liked your description of the hunt itself. Not to forget, the
whole thing flavored with a good taste of humour and sarcasm.

More of such stuff, please.

Best regards, and may 2011 be a good year for all of us.

Matthias

[meteorite-list] Meteorite search in the Saquia al Hamra

2011-01-01 Thread Larry Atkins

Svend, List,

That was beautifully written and most entertaining. I feel very
fortunate to be privy to such amazing adventures like this and others
that are put up here on the list. This story is a great example of what
meteorite hunting is all about for me personally. Camaraderie,
adventure, discovery, documentation and science all mixed with just a
hint of danger!

Thanks for the great story!

Sincerely,
Larry Atkins
