Hi List,
Anyone thinking of searching for meteorites in Niger and Mali, please
exercise caution. Two French citizens were kidnapped and killed in
the capital of Niger.

Hi Larry and List!
I only live 1 hour. away from the Serpent mound crater and have deer hunted
there for years, before I new anything about meteorites and
shatter cones and even before I knew there was a crater there. The rocks
there are (yellow-tan) and the shatter cones from that area ar
Hello from a sad Tucson:
At the moment, we know nothing more than those of you who have already

seem to have been on our way to shop (not there) at the time of the
shooting. One of our neighbors just sent out an email saying
A terrible thing. My condolences and warmest heartfelt wishes go out to
the families of all those involved, may they find strength, love, and
support in this, their greatest time of need. Our thoughts and hearts go
out to them all.

It's a very sad day in this country. Let this be a time to work together to
solve our problems. I hope everyone is safe there in Tucson and the upcoming
show goes as scheduled without incident. Also, let all our thoughts and prayers

I'm watching coverage right now and the local station (and CNN) is reporting 10
shot. 2 died, a kid and a judge.
A doctor from the hospital said Representative Giffords is out of surgery and
that he is very optimistic about her eventual recovery.
22 year old shooter is in custody.

I do hope our many List members from the Tucson area are

I think you will have much more success searching through the rooms at
the numerous venues in Tucson...Besides, there is just not enough time
to see all the meteorites that will be on show (or hidden away in
mysterious boxes) even if you stayed for the whole show
Larry,
I live near and have spent a lot of time collecting shatter cones from
Kentland, In. That has all the earmarks of a weathered shatter cone to me. Do
you have any sharper photos?

Are there any strewn fields one can search around Tucson?
I'm wondering if it is worthwhile to bring my metal detector. This will be

I was quite surprised when I looked down and saw it. The funny thing is
that when you look for things you tend to find them. A friend was with

Hi Count, I bet both won't happen.

Such a claim would need a very strong evidence at least.
