ENSISHEIM ?METEORITE 2011? NEWS
(April 21, 2011)
Dear meteorite friends,
My recent relative silence on the mail is basically due to family
health problems (through personally I am in good shape) that had
required my constant presence in Belgium, far from Mulhouse (where I

My take on this is the following. Most people who come to us with a
suspect meteorite are for some reason expecting that identification
costs us nothing, and that we can glance at sample and give quick
answer. So when they go to an average geology department and get a
free meteorite screening they
I could not agree more. People often forget that there is considerable costs
involved in characterizing real meteorites and for some reason they expect this
service for free. Meteorite-wrongs tie up a lot of resources and are a drag on
the few laboratories that are qualified to study real

I privately fund the initial study and characterizations of pieces I sell. I
have from the beginning before this model became poplar when most were using
UCLA and other institutions that were free of charge.

There is nothing about this meteorite that suggests meteorwrong. solid iron, no
cracks, no holes.
Just a guy who likely has never seen a meteorite declaring that it was not a
meteorite. It seems most geologists dont know a thing about meteorites.

Marcin,
Very good point.
The science needed to be done to verify it.
It's like Sir Ernest Rutherford said. All science is either physics or stamp
collecting.
I'm glad people take Farmer seriously or this possibly would never have gotten
verified by science.

Adam,
Your initial agreement with Carl made me chuckle a bit.
It is as if you were saying everybody already known's which is real and which
is not prior to study.
I feel the same way about lottery tickets. Why waste your time buying the
losing numbers. it ties up all of the time.
You should
This iron weighs 8.5 kilograms. They were told it has sandstone inside by a
geologist. The finder almost threw it away when told it was not a meteorite!
