 I surely do.

I intend to be turned into a Blue LifeGem and let free to forever roam our
vast universe, passing planets, comets, asteroids, moons, and the great wide
open in-between and beyond... At least that's the plan.

 What's more forever than that?

Re: [meteorite-list] Sutter's Mill Regolith breccia

2012-12-22 Thread Prof. Zelimir Gabelica Université de Haute Alsace ENSCMu,

Hello Frank,

Yes, solar implanted gases were detected and evaluated. This is
summarized in the main text, p 1585 (see below) and further detailed
in the supplementary text Materials Methods where figures S1 to
S36 can be seen, in particular Fig S27 (20Ne/22Ne versus 21Ne/22Ne
plots).

Here is part of the related § of the main text:

...SM is a regolith breccia. Like all CM chondrites (26), SM contains
Ne from solar wind implantation in a surface regolith (fig. S27).
Unlike most other CM chondrites, the brecciated nature of that
regolith is evident: SM2, 18, 47, 48, 51, and 54 contain angular to
rounded clasts embedded in a fine-grained comminuted matrix seen
visually (Fig. 2A), by x-ray and backscattered electron mapping (Fig.
2B and fig. S13), and by x-ray and neutron computed tomography (figs.
S28 and S30)...

Kind regards,

Zelimir

The Science abstract refers Sutter's Mill meteorite as being a regolith

Am I missing something or am I completely wrong.  (It hasn't been the first

[meteorite-list] AD: First come - First Serve Sale on Kentland and Glover Bluff impactites

2012-12-22 Thread Brandon D.
Hello Listees,

I have several large slices of Kentland and Glover Bluff I am selling at a flat
cost of $150.00 and on a first come-first serve basis. These are gorgeous
slices and beautiful museum quality examples of both localities I assure you. I
need to begin creating much needed room for some new exciting material to be
brought forward early next year.

Kentland full slices with green tektite inclusion and beautiful diverse matrix:

1) 407.5g 22cm x 12cm x 9mm

2) 407.3g 22cm x 11cm x 9mm

3) 334.7g 19cm x 12cm x 9mm

Glover Bluff breccia:

1) 713.6g(endcut) 14cm x 16cm x 2cm

2) 439.9g lot consisting of two nice endcuts w/melt inclusions and one slice

In addition to the breccia I also have a Perfect 14lb. Kentland conical shatter
cone with horse-tails everywhere on the backside in all directions. This is
truly one of the best and would be the centerpiece of any impactites or
meteorite collection alike. - A real deal at only $350.00

Ping me email off list letting me know which one you would be interested in and
I will send you detailed pictures.

Happy Holidays everyone. I hope everyone has a safe and Happy New Years!

[meteorite-list] How much (in weight) of available meteorites on eBay

2012-12-22 Thread Don Merchant
Hi List. Was going through the listings of meteorites for sale or auction on
eBay. Wow, there is allot of meteorites! Seems to many and too much to be
true. Is there that much meteorite material available out there!!? Any one
able to take a guesstimate as to how much (in weight) meteorite material is
available on eBay at one time.

Back of the envelope estimate based on averaging a few page results:

Canyon Diablo: 40-60 kilos

2012-12-22 Thread Pete Pete

 Hi, All,

More and more I'm seeing the use of the term Unobserved Fall.

Is Find obsolete, and observed or unobserved fall is the new vernacular?

The old terms seemed straighforward to me, so I'm wondering why the change was
necessary.

Cheers,
Pete
