[meteorite-list] Cleaning stony meteorites
Hello all and good day I have some uNWA’s that have rust or a rust color in the crust. This is not fresh crust. I would like to remove the rust and or rust color from the surface of these meteorites. I have also read a post that stated there is a chemical way to the original crust? Any help would be appreciated. I am familiar with working on meteorites as far a cutting, polishing and etching. Thanks in advance for your help. Griff Parker, Colorado, USA IMCA 2510 __ HAPPY HOLIDAYS!! [meteorite-list] Lookout Tucson -- Anne Black is on her way
Hello and good day, Anne Black is on her way. I helped Anne load up her inventory for the show this morning. She needed to get a bigger vehicle this year to carry all her stuff. What a joy seeing just a few of the items she is taking to Tucson. I actually got to see and hold the Sikhote-Alin tree section she will have in her room. She also has quite a few books. Please buy them so I don't have to unload them when she gets back to Denver, Colorado. As most of you know, she shares a room with Geoff N. at the old Inns Suite. I sure wish I could see it this year. I'll bet it will be better then ever. Have a great show. Re: [meteorite-list] Looking for canyon diablo strewn field map
Very good info Alex, thank you. I am thinking that there must be a viable search area that is not a part of the Barringer land or the BLM land. I have scouted the area and talked to the sheriff in Flagstaff, AZ. The sheriff basically said that anyone hunting for meteorites in any areas around the above lands will be arrested. One will need written proof that they have permission from the land owner where they are hunting. I know this sounds rather wimpy but, as a member of the IMCA, I can't hunt the Diablo area illegally. So, I am attempting to find a legal way to hunt. There must be a way. Best to all and thanks for the help. Open note to Bob Evens, Some time ago I purchased a piece of NWA 1950 from you. Then when it hit the fan for you, I emailed a request for authenticity from you. Actually I sent several emails. Not one response. How can someone buy with confidence from you if you are unwilling (or unable) to show authenticity of the items you sell. The lunar, NWA 1950 is now worthless to me or anyone. It is nothing more then a speck of dirt. Why would you think that anyone in this group would buy from you. You do not seem to even want to work it out. You revert to name calling. That always helps. The 2007 $5 Cook Islands Brenham Meteorite Coin measures 38.61 mm.and weighs 25 grams. The coin is .925 % silver and is partially palladium plated. The palladium, which cost more then silver, gives the sky a neat effect. The coin is self has a face value of $5.00 backed by the Government of the New Zealand, Cook Islands.
