The problem with Facebook is there are now a million and one different groups, this has split the meteorite community into different places to the point that either you need to monitor 6 different media feeds 24/7 or you are out of the loop. There are few groups worth to look Meteorites (3800 ppl) Meteorite Hunters, Collectors, and Enthusiasts (6500) by Pat Brown and Jason Utas Meteorites, Tektites, Impactites & Ephemera (1700) hold by Mendy ! Meteorite Club (4800) by Alex Folda, John Higgins , Takis Theodossiou Polandmet Meteorites (1200) my own, worth to look becouse Im very "multimedia" guy In fact I dont know why there are so big differences in members. thats enough to be on-line with latest news But most peoples are on the same groups posting same things on them all so You cant miss anything. And You can scroll down the wall, so You can see what was before. 30min a day and You are informed well. So this is a tool and this depends on use how we use it, not matter who made it. The advantage of the metlist is there is pretty much only one metlist, yes, it's an old school way of doing things, and it rests on people making the effort to post and contribute. Facebook does also have massive UI plusses over email, I appreciate people don't like Suckerberger, but we do sooner or later have to face facts pretty much no one under 30 these days uses email outside of work! [meteorite-list] Meteoritical Bulletin Main Mass photos
Hello list I see there is only discusion about Pictures of the day :) Is this list dead ? Come to the Facebook peoples, it dont bite. Meteorite group, Polandmet Meteorites group and many other very valuable groups with alot info about meteorites and thousand of users. I have started in Meteorites group discusion that every new classification should include few photos of specimen. Not in Encyclopedia of Meteorites but reference photos submited with classification and provided by specimen/main mass holder. When Im sending type specimen to the lab I also need to send them few photos of entire mass wirth scale cube and also photo of cut surface, slice. This will give every meteorite his "face", idea what is NWA 12123214 and if slice I just bough look like reference photo. Every time there is Met Bull update there are many rare specimens but they stay only as number. Sometimes we can find them on ebay or search name in Google we can find specimens in someone website. But this really should look like that ? We have 2020, every morocan in the desert have now smartphone with high quality camera. I get their photos every hour. Photos of incredible specimen. But they can be seen only by few of us. Why not for everyone and forever? Most dealers who submit big ammount of specimens in Met Bull sell online so it is not a problem to require some representative photos of specimen or the biggest mass. You dont have good camera ? Whats the problem? You can find 10 friends with Canon, Nikon or new Iphone to prepare requested pictures the same as You collect all requested informations about Your specimen like date of find, TKW, place of find etc. I realy dont see a problem. This need only some discusion and some good will -[ MARCIN CIMALA ][ +48 793567667 ]- http://www.Meteoryty.pl marcin(at)meteoryty.pl http://www.PolandMET.com marcin(at)polandmet.com [ Member of Polish Meteoritical Society ] __ Visit our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/meteoritecentral and the Archives at http://www.meteorite-list-archives.com Meteorite-list mailing list Meteorite-list@meteoritecentral.com https://pairlist3.pair.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list

Re: [meteorite-list] Saw Blades
From: m...@mhmeteorites.com With sintered blades the diamonds are actually cooked in with the metallic alloys of the blade material, thus impregnating the diamonds into the rim of the blade. This creates a much longer-life and the sintering creates a more durable and stiffer metallic alloy. The non-sintered blades (pro-slicer) are made of basically, sheet-metal, and the diamonds are sprayed onto the rim. Once the diamonds are removed, the blade is worthless. Matt I cant agree with You. I use ONLY this worthless chinse diamond blades from ebay, this for 4-6$/ blade. I make hundreds slices on each, single blade before I need to change it becouse the rim with diamonds is basicaly losses completly into 0! I cant imagine to use any Pro-Slicer for 30-40$ :) I even used only one blade to cut urelites. Ofcourse , each slice take 30-50min to cut, but ... this blade do it. Re: [meteorite-list] Fantastic World of Zaklodzie E-rich Ungr. Achondrite
Excellent pics of the main mass Marcin! === Thank You :D I forgot about this photos for a while. 2 questions: 1) is the tan-white area containing the metal islands of eucritic type ? No This is just perfect example of weathering. Especially full slice but also main mass with his tiny white dot in center, showing very sharp zones of weathering approaching from outside to inside. So oryginaly Zaklodzie was perfect WHITE! Thats why this last full slice is soo importand becouse contain fresh, not weathered material. In the remaining main mass ~5kg there is propably no more of this material deep inside specimen. Another interesting feature in full slice is top right area above iron core. There are several graphite globules in iron ! 2) From which source do you know that the TKW of Brahin and Chinga are respectively 823 Kg and about 200 Kg ? = Met Soc website say http://tin.er.usgs.gov/meteor/metbull.php Chinga TKW 209.4 kg Brahin TKW 823 kg -[ MARCIN CIMALA ]-[ I.M.C.A.#3667 ]- http://www.Meteoryty.pl marcin(at)meteoryty.pl http://www.PolandMET.com marcin(at)meteorite.pl http://www.Gao-Guenie.com GSM: +48 (793) kosmos [ Member of Polish Meteoritical Society ] __ http://www.meteoritecentral.com Meteorite-list mailing list Meteorite-list@meteoritecentral.com http://six.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list
Re: [meteorite-list] Zaklodzie and TKW's
Thanks Macrin, Very interesting regarding Zaklodzie! The next question that soon comes in mind: was this unweathered portion of the meteoirite the one that was analyzed for its type determination/classification ?? I dont know this, but If I could be scientist, I will like to use this fresh part for tests. Im sure that not for all tests this was importand how weathered is material. But I know that this white center was well tested. This large iron in center also was etched. Thanks for the TKW's. My data come from A to Z. === You know, TKW is not most importand here and for sure impossible to get it even close to real weight. With large finds like this we know its hundreds of kilos, so better mark it as TKW=large :) -[ MARCIN CIMALA ]-[ I.M.C.A.#3667 ]- http://www.Meteoryty.pl marcin(at)meteoryty.pl http://www.PolandMET.com marcin(at)meteorite.pl http://www.Gao-Guenie.com GSM: +48 (793) kosmos [ Member of Polish Meteoritical Society ] __ http://www.meteoritecentral.com Meteorite-list mailing list Meteorite-list@meteoritecentral.com http://six.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list
Re: [meteorite-list] Zaklodzie and TKW's
That unweathered inner part of Zaklodzie had very distinct edges; I was also surprised to see the (relatively) huge metal blebs in the slices. I would think that there would be an area of most weathering closest to the exterior, and a more graduated progression as the elements slowly seeped into the interior, rather than a discrete 'core', which looked very eucrite-ish. Is there any chance that this was an anomalous piece of Zaklodzie with an inclusion? What created such a clear boundary? Tracy Latimer Hi I think that the most competent answer You will find here. [meteorite-list] I have found life in my CO3
Hello List Tooday I wanted to make some description for my new meteorites. When I opened one of the boxes, something white almost eat me :) OK now seriously Here is my new MC058 CO3.x chondrite. I received it on end of august, cut several slices and store it in cardboard box like all other meteorites that wait for clasification. Tooday I wanted to make photos and I have found large white crystals growing on both sides of two slices. Wow, something fantastic. I remember I have similar things on my Ogrueil, but this one is much more larger. Anyone know what it is ? I will leave them in box for next two months and lets wait if this will still grown. But now there will maybe be too cold for them. Anyway I will try to hold them undamaged even for next year. Have fun http://www.polandmet.com/_mc058.htm PS. I have for sale three large complete specimens of new CV3, unclassified but propably paired with one of the lates CV's. TKW = 1154g. Attractive low price. Specimens will be classified. [meteorite-list] Quiz! - name this beauty
No it isn't Seymchan. Ha ! Becouse its Morasko :))) hi hi Morasko is alvays the best and who cares about two olivines. OK I cant tell what it is otherwise I will be disqualified by Martin. Hey Mike, it was a not so intelligent idea to buy the Baszkowka stone and to drop it in Oman to rerecover it again. The other way round, Mike, the other way round! Martin = NO NO No This is speculation. I personally checked that tooday Baszkowka , one of the TOP10 best oriented meteorites on this tiny world is sitting in his armour chest, and its SAFE. This was incredible, this was mystic, this was great, this was horrible and beautifull to watch this stone in real. Heh and its much heavy than I expected. Crust is soo fresh, sharp, mat and shiny into regmalyptes compressed one near another. And finally the back side, never seen with place from where all material was cut off. This was great And all who like to see some photos please open my page http://www.meteoryt.net/sprawozd/baszkowka_2k6/index.htm And for those who will try to start any exchanges, no more material will be cut from it and everything what was taken from Baszkowka in the past was killed in many Lab tests and other parts landed also deep museums/collectors membrane boxes. So no new material will be available. Re: [meteorite-list] AD - 96 Auctions - Great Stuff - New Material!
Hi Marcin, Not sure if I can agree with this statement. Yes, yes I know, old is better, with stories, facts, something that You can tell Your grandson's for goodnight :) But what is a difference beetween Benguerir and Ensisheim ? Nothing :) OK, Benguerir You can have with crust he he. But collector is a strange specie that want things he cant get. 500g Benguerir will not make that other will say Uh Ah, what a specimen. But with 50g Ensisheim everyone will envy. But in fact there must be any bonus if one meteorite is 10 or 20 times more expensive. Im was grow up on NWA rush, so Im pollute with this. If I can choose beetween 500g Benguerir and 50g Ensisheim I will take bigger. Bigger is better. Thats my motto. And becouse Im not a millionaire, bigger from NWA mean cheaper. This is related to building my personal collection. In dealers life, there are other rules, rules of what collectors want :) Viva collectors ! Re: [meteorite-list] Re: The other Brenham hunter
It seems to me this fellow is not trying to gain publicity. It seems more like the media have latched onto him as another successful hiunter. Remember the human interest aspect, 'Owner of land where original crater is located finds meteorites on his own property'. Gary I not see anything bad that someone search his own property instead of invite there Steve. If tomorrow someone start diging in Dziegielow meteorites on fields, I will be also interested to do the same on my land. Also I think that noone have any idea that in Brenham area there are still soo many big specimens that can be found relativelu easy. If this is not correct, then why Steve was first person who open ours eyes on this case ? If this new hunter not search Brenham for last 10 years its becouse noone search them, and noone will do this for next 10 years without Arnold succesfull hunting expedition. If Arnold make aggrement with some land owners and received permission for hunting on their land its only his luck, that they are too lazy to do this ourself and not share possible profits with other persons. But as long he dig new, big specimens, there could be more persons who want search meteorites on their own land. -[ MARCIN CIMALA ]-[ I.M.C.A.#3667 ]- http://www.Meteoryt.net [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.PolandMET.com [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.Gao-Guenie.com GSM +48(607)535 195 [ Member of Polish Meteoritical Society ] __ Meteorite-list mailing list Meteorite-list@meteoritecentral.com http://six.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list

Re: [meteorite-list] Gifhorn in the news (in German!)
Hi folks! This is the most important thing for our hobby or business: publicity and education! It´s not important how big a fair is (like Andy Gren has posted), it´s important that there is a fair. Sure, Gifhorn is very very small, but it can grow and become bigger... Shame on us, if we only think on profit if we talk about meteorites Just my two ?-cents! == Now my two thousant dollars Gifhorn was very nice fair 3-4 years ago. I was on fair No 2-3-4 I think but from the last 2 years it going down. Just find Martin Boockleboo report from Gifhorn 2005. Anyway if someone live 100-300km far from Gifhorn its not a problem. But for me and my friends its 800km. Too far to drive only fo little fun, and in the best years the Poland Team was one of the biggest on fair, 10-11 persons) Money in this hobby is very importand thing. We love meteorites but time is not good and money are importand. I think how to sell to have money for next meteorites, You think how to buy cheap to get more pieces for Your collection. Buying and selling its just half of the fun in meteorite business. Not only hunt them, watch them, cut/polish them. I stoped buy meteorites for my collection. I have found other way. I buy meteorites for sale. It is fun for me and pleasure, also if this not bring me back big profits. And if in mean time some collectors will be happy from specimens that they purchased from me it is just extra profit for me.
