After having curated the sale of more than 1000 specimens in traditional
auctions since having introduced the auction of meteorites in the mid 90s, I
can tell you Mike is 100% correct. There are trends, and there are
aberrations---and this is an example of the latter. That is,..for
In my experience at the big public auctions the smaller exotic items
nearly always seem to go for lot more than the market
price...especially Lunar meteorites. The only good deals are usually
the larger museum quality pieces if you are lucky enough to find one

undervalued due to the sheer amount which fell. Try getting it today. Not easy

I attended the Bonham's auction yesterday, and I was indeed shocked by the
bidding war over that Allende piece. On the other hand, I was equally shocked
by the many other meteorites which went unsold, despite low starting bids in
