Hello List, What is all this talk about crystals in a meteorite? And, Could some one explain why, if there is crystals in a meteorite, why I have been told a number of times "this CAN NOT be a meteorite because meteorites don't have crystals"? : )

Whoever said so hasn't seen Mo(u)nt Tazerzait or Baszkowka.
The vugs deem with crystals and you feel like looking into
a quartz druse at high magnification.

Good afternoon Folks,
While we are talking about crystal formations in meteorites let's not forget the famous meteorite, Ibitira, with crystal formations in the individual vesicles. Under magnification the vesicles look like they hold baby geodes. Quite spectacular!

Crystals can be found in any of the meteorites that have undergone
differenciation (melting basicly) and the cooling process is slow enough.
Only those undifferenciated meteorites can be different. The crystals can
be easily seen in thin section as (in petrologist terms) hedral (a
