Re: [meteorite-list] Picture Of Meteorite From An Airplane Window ?

2011-12-10 Thread Michael Blood
Hi all,
I found it quite interesting that his photo looked EXACTLY the way
Jerry
Armstrong envisioned meteors from up there as depicted in several of
His paintings. See Fantasy Fireballs at URL below:

http://michaelbloodmeteorites.com/JerryArmstrong.html

OF COURSE THE PHOTO IS REAL!
Anyone who did even a cursory search can see this guy's body of
Work. Why would any photographer with such a body of work
Taint it with a faked photo? Totally illogical.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!
Michael

Hello Jason,

it looks as if you are quite right. Thanks!

In fact, as I just found out, the photo is already a few years old.
Here are some comments on the photo, including answers of the photographer:

Hello Martin,Look closely at the meteorite's tail in the second link you
posted (the larger image). It is made of two semi-parallel rows comprised of
hollow white circles that are organized unnaturally. It looks like the
fireball was added to a pretty image using fairly primitive photo-editing
software. Regards,JasonOn Fri, Dec 9, 2011 at 2:03 PM, karmaka

Hi all,
I thought even large meteors go dark below about 30 miles. He's in a
plane no more than 8 miles high and looking down or across the
meteor. No way is it real.

I was also thinking that at the altitude of a typical passenger airplane the
curvature of the earth is not quite so apparent. :)
