If your standard 1mg (.001 gram) scale is not accurate enough for you then your best bet is probably moving up to scales used by the jewelry trade which is accurate to 4 decimal places (.0005ct or .1mg or .0001 gram - I think I have that right but its ten times more accurate than your standard mg
