I will be going. The only venues that will be closed by the Covid Comissars
will be the City-Owned properties like the Convention Center. That still leaves
the lion‘s share of locations free to
choose. If you can go to Home Depot, the grocery store, or Christmas shopping,
you can go to a dealer’s room at a hotel.

I agree.
I don't believe we will truly be safe until everyone has been vaccinated. So,
yes we can be lucky and somehow avoid it but safe!  that's a different story.
So I already worry about the Ensisheim Show in June.

All things considered, April sounds a bit optimistic.

If a show was outside, like Quartzite, then I would be less worried
about exposure risk while attending. My main concern would be
traveling to and from the show and how lodging could be handled.
Traveling and lodging present their own inherent risks.

Or, they could just move the show to Florida where the governor is a
science-denier and business is open as usual. A lot of people down
here are acting like nothing is happening. Events, parades, parties,
sporting events with fans in the stands, the whole nine yards. Of
course, the hospitals are filled to the rafters and the morgues are
overflowingso there's that.

Stay safe!

Lots of Moroccans already set up in Quartzsite. Obviously outdoor shows

[meteorite-list] Tucson Gem and Mineral Show 2020

2019-12-17 Thread Lawrence Monrad via Meteorite-list
Norm, I am sorry to hear about Hal.

I usually report when I see things happening in Tucson regarding the plans
for the Gem Show. I noticed this past week that the 22nd Street tent is
going up, such a huge venue! I have not driven by Kino Sports Park, but I
will bet that workers are busy with that also.

2007-10-27 Thread Larry Twink Monrad
In the past I have mentioned to several of you that the Tucson Gem
and Mineral Show actually started in my elementary school when I was
in the fifth grade. My mother and others sold hot dogs and drinks in
the cafeteria next to the show. Here is a link to an article in our
morning paper which tells the whole story.

http://www.azstarnet.com/metro/208527.php

I still have a rose quartz pendant I bought that day, am sure there
were no meteorites, but they did have a little booth with black lights.
