I have been in that region of Canada in the middle of winter (~40 C)... b.
It is a very harsh environment. I would take the desert any day too.

I wish I could have been there, but I was in the Middle East with my wife and
could not make it to Canada before the now fell.
Hated to miss out on that massive fall, but other things took priority that
