I checked out the DB and the "content_model" of those pages is not "category", but rather "richtextpage", "form" or "link", as expected. However, the table "shop_category" did have some demo categories with ids matching those of the pages in question. I will test later if deleting Product Categories from the Page admin is leaving orphan entries in the category DB table. Hopefully this has only been a really weird fluke :P
