I'm using mhonarc to archive users's mail accounts, and by default it does not
list the message date in the maillist.html file.
Is there a simple way of requesting it or is this a job for editing custom
resource files?

You need a resource file. Looks like you need to modify
the LITEMPLATE resource.

command-line tool, since OS X
supports Perl just fine. There MAY be some perl modules that would need
installing from CPAN, I cannot remember what ones I needed to install when I
tried that version.
